As the daughter of a soap maker, I have used Moonshine Soap for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until I became a teenager that I realized the difference it could actually make in my daily life.
I do not have typical teenage skin. My skin is very dry and sensitive and I only breakout occasionally. Some people my age might think it is great to only experience blemishes once in awhile, but dry, flaky skin proposes its own issues.
When I was about 12 or 13 years old my skin was so clear and my cheeks were always rosy. A friend's mom once said she noticed that I always glowed after I played basketball or went skating with my friends. I figured I was just lucky in the complexion department and considered myself blessed. It turns out that rosy cheeks were the first sign of what I would come to know as the skin condition rosacea.
In ninth grade I started to notice that my rosy glow was becoming rough patches of redness on my cheeks and forehead. The skin on my hands and face became more sensitive and really dry. I had been using a variety of different things on my skin for the bath and shower that I had received as birthday presents, holiday gifts and samples from stores. I figured a teenager used stuff from the mall that smelled sweet and fruity and young. I saw my mom's handmade soap as a product for more mature skin and never really used it on my face.
My mom knew my dilemma and tried to explain why I should be using the gentlest of products on my skin, especially my face. When I turned 15, she stocked my bathroom with her Rosewood Forest Soap and I finally began to wash my face with it everyday. I was so surprised to realize that it was silkier than I remembered. I was amazed by how much her soap calmed my skin and smoothed my complexion. I became completely hooked and have actually found Rosewood Forest Soap to be the saving grace to calm my rosacea and clear my skin.
Thanks, mom!
